August Art Walk with Annette Kraus

Returning for another month, we are thrilled to share Annette Kraus’s whimsical Botanical Bugs series:

Catch them before they fly away at the end of August!

In the whimsical world of Annette's digital illustrations, you are invited to explore a delightful array of botanical bugs and insects. These charming creatures, adorned with intricate floral motifs, dance in perfect symmetry across the paper, capturing your imagination and drawing you into the enchantment of nature's smallest wonders. With a touch of humor and a dash of cuteness, Annette's art introduces you to funny, playful bugs, adorable beetles, colorful winged creatures and mischievous subtle snails and worms that seemingly pop out of nowhere.

Each artwork is meticulously detailed, capturing the essence of these tiny creatures and their whimsical interactions with their floral surroundings. Annette intentionally employs a limited, muted color palette, directing your focus to the intricate patterns and textures that make each piece truly unique. This deliberate restraint creates a sense of harmony and unity throughout the body of work, amplifying the whimsy and allure of the natural world.

To infuse these creations with a touch of personality, each artwork is accompanied by a distinct and humorous title that corresponds to the flowers integrated within the composition. Final reception of her work will be hosted at Baas Framing Studio on Saturday, August 5th from 5-7 PM. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Art Walk is Reborn in Madison Valley

We are delighted that the first Art Walk of 2023 had stellar attendance: with 8 participating locations featuring 6 local artists, there was so much to experience! We plan to make this event a monthly affair so stayed tuned throughout the year to catch the next round of creatives!

Baas Framing Studio was proud to welcome back Carla Dimitriou and her newest collection of frisky felines. A local favorite, she works with encaustic and is interested in pushing that process in new and interesting ways.

Right around the corner Coven Salon was showing another local artist: Jess Donaldson. Her works explore themes of gender, acceptance, and beauty. “It is a celebration of Love, Companionship, and Femininity.” -Jess D.

And of course, there is Roq La Rue who celebrated their 25th anniversary last month! The award-winning artist Jason Puccinelli’s showed his collection called “Mimic”:

“a retro-futuristic surrealist carnival worthy of the the most fevered cyberpunk fantasies”

Making A Splash! We relaunched the Art Program!

A new year full of possibilities.

We’re back and making a splash! We were delighted to host our first art reception since restarting the art program which had slowed to a halt during the pandemic. Our new owner, Colleen Godfrey, debuted her original fantasy watercolors in the refreshed space.

As we emerge from the pandemic as an art community, we know it is time to bring back the vibrancy that only art truly allows us.

A crowd of friends, neighbors, artists and art lovers converged for delightful food, drinks, and of course chit-chatting all about art! A sense of reconnection permeated the shop.

We cannot thank our customers and fans enough. It is because of your support that we remain strong.

Joyously, we announce that we will keep the art coming! We have already arranged for other artists to share the space with us this year. The line-up is an exciting mix of new artists and returning favorites. Stay tuned for more updates as we look forward to announcing our upcoming creatives!

Best of 2022 Part 2

There were so many unforgettable projects from last year that we could not help but share a few more. Our staff looks forward to making YOUR framing dreams come true in 2023!

We created this Ski Patrol shadowbox to showcase the patches, pins and insignia collected over a lifetime of winter sports and service. Our framer Heather organized the many small items into a pleasing, balanced composition. We'd love to help you create a framed collection like this!

One of the stand-outs! This Parisian Carnival Mask in a custom acrylic box looked simply stunning. We created a gold and red fabric platform to add some color and a touch of luxe. The box protects the feathers and mask from dust and light.

Signed jerseys are always fun projects, but this one stood out for the addition of collectible cards. We folded the jersey to keep the project to a reasonable size. The red filet adds a sporty touch to the black shadowbox frame.

The client wanted to have some fun with this original Bob Mackie drawing for his "Fantasy Goddess of Asia" Barbie design. We chose lime-green "Wasabi" silk matting and a rounded gold metal frame for a glam presentation befitting the designer.

A wine mishap led this customer to replace their linen liner. So we took the opportunity and upgraded not only her liner but added a dark wood frame and a perfectly matched fillet. The tones in the frame and liner play so nicely with the image that it creates a presentation that is greater than the sum of its parts.

The Best of 2022

Welcome to the New Year, 2023! As we move forward we thought it would be fun take a look backward and share some of our favorite projects from the past year with you. It's always an inspiration to see unique and fun design ideas -- enjoy (some of) the best of 2022!

"Taking the Plunge", print by local artist Eileen Sorg of Two Dog Studio. Deep blue metallic frame by Fotiou highlights the glossy crow feathers, and we love that fun pinstripe of yellow!

Vintage linen dress with fabulously embroidered flowers in a custom acrylic box. This lovely family heirloom is now on the wall, spurring conversations and memories! At almost 5 feet tall, this was one of the larger acrylic box projects we've done.

An ornate bronze and lilac-toned Art Deco frame on a lovely contemporary painting...a perfect match of frame and artwork. Utterly dreamy.

"U Tried", oil on canvas by Shawn Huckins. Framed in a gold-toned closed-corner frame for a period touch. Our vendor created a custom depth to accommodate the canvas for a seamless, historically appropriate presentation.

Child's costume from Turkey, circa 1930s. This fantastic textile piece was in storage for years. The client decided it was time to display her collection and we chose dark wood shadowboxes with taupe linen matting and Museum Glass for a warm presentation.
